As a UK manufacturer of Playing Cards, we were shocked to read that the Republic of China (Taiwan) officials found that 20 percent of randomly picked playing cards manufactured in China, have tested for formaldehyde, a highly poisonous and cancerous agent to humans

The Chinese maximum tolerance for Formaldehyde in board is 75ppm**, however the European maximum standard is 30ppm.

What is Formaldehyde?

A colourless poisonous gas; made by the oxidation of methanol used in manufacturing and chemical industries, and as a preservative by anatomists, embalmers and pathologists. Being exposed to formaldehyde may increase the risk of developing leukaemia and brain cancer.
